When WordPress started?
If you have ever wondered when WordPress was started, continue reading to discover the history of WordPress and learn about its origins.
In 2001, Michel Valdrighi, a French programmer and avid blogger, started a personal blogging project that eventually led to the creation of b2/Cafelog.
This project was designed to be a user-friendly blogging tool that allowed users to publish their thoughts and ideas on the internet easily. However, the b2/Cafelog platform had some severe limitations, including a lack of features that bloggers loved, no plugin support, and no option to customize templates.
In 2003, Matt Mullenweg, an entrepreneur and also an avid blogger who was a fan and user of the b2/Cafelog platform, collaborated with Michel Valdrighi to improve the b2/Cafelog platform. This collaboration eventually led to the birth of WordPress.
Only a few months after joining Valdrighi, Mullenweg announced the first-ever official WordPress release to the world. On May 27th, 2003, WordPress 0.7 was released as the first official public release of WordPress.
And this is what it looked like:
Despite its initial limitations, WordPress has improved with each new version and has become one of the most popular CMS platforms on the internet today, with over 810 million websites around the world using it.
